1. I’m getting errors with something along the lines of “time out max memory exceeded”

Answer: If you run your own server, change the php timeout and memory settings. Or ask your hosting technical support to change it. If both of these fail, select half the data in excel or neo office(macusers) and copy, then delete, save file, upload, paste deleted data into new file and upload.

2. The categorys arent working.

Answer: See these two lines in “upload.php” require(’../../wp-blog-header.php’); require(’../../wp-admin/includes/taxonomy.php’); add the proper locations!

3. It doesnt work.

Answer: Post in comments or wordpress support forum, make sure you attach to code or nobody can help you.

4. What can i use this script with

You can use it to upload Affiliate Date Feeds to wordpress and turn them into blog posts, I’ve used this script successfully with Affiliate Window & Affiliate Future. It works with every other feed as well.

G1 vs Iphone

Posted on March 31st, 2009 in Apple, G1, Rant | No Comments »

The T-mobile G1 is definitely better value for money, the amount of texts and minutes included in the £31 PM contract is impressive compared to the Iphone on o2. The only big deciding factor is that the Iphone has better apps, more memory, alot more free hotspots and generally a better user friendly experience. But not fogetting the great features that the G1 has such as google streetview and a QWERTY keyboard.

I would feel cheated if I had to choose the Iphone 8GB with o2, I can imagine myself looking back dreaming of all the extra call time and txts I could get with the G1.

G1 on T-mobile £31

1000 Minutes A Month

2000 Texts A Month

Free Unlimited Internet

Free Next Day Delivery

3.2 Mega Pixels Camera

Iphone 8GB on O2 £30

Facebook Image Trick

Posted on March 7th, 2009 in Facebook | No Comments »

If your trying to view a friends profile, and the tiny image on the friend finders page is too small, you can increase the size by copying the url of the image and changing a part of the url code.

I wont show a screen shot of this because i dont want to put some random profile on here
To do this with firefox, right click the image then “Copy Image Location” then open the url in a new location.

http://profile.ak.facebook.com/profile2/850/87/s1446030057_26579.jpg

change the url  where it says “s” to “n” so the new url would become

http://profile.ak.facebook.com/profile2/850/87/n1446030057_26579.jpg

And the image  is now bigger even if the profile has private profile set.

Avoid a google penalty when cloaking affiliate links

Posted on November 5th, 2008 in SEO | 3 Comments »

Avoid the sandbox or a google penalty, no visitor wants to see weird 100 character long Links when hovering over the URL’s, whether its on your landing page or in your content, it doesn’t look nice and it looks rather suspicious. By cloaking the links your click through rate will be increased. The easiest way is to use .htaccess and redirect the links, if we wanted to cloak the following affiliate link http://www.myaffiliatesite.com/1.php?=yadda&111 look at the tutorial below.

1. Add this in .htaccess Redirect /myaffiliatesite http://www.myaffiliatesite.com/1.php?=yadda&111

2. You must add no follow snippet in the html code where the link located e.g. <a href=”http://www.mysite.com/myaffiliatesite” rel=”nofollow”>Myaffiliatesite</a>

3. Disallow the link in robots.txt

User-Agent: *

Disallow: /myaffiliatesite

This should be a sufficient enough to cloak affiliate links for a small site but you must make sure you Disallow them in robots.txt and use the nofollow method, this stops your site from receiving a google penalty which has happened to me in the past, if your affilite links appear in google search when doing a site:search you can remove them in google webmasters.

Convert CSV Data Feeds To Wordpress Posts

Posted on October 29th, 2008 in Wordpress | 56 Comments »

Convert your Affiliate product data feeds into wordpress posts, creating perfect posts with Titles, Descriptions, Affiliate Links, Images and Prices. The tool will work with any, yes i said ANY! Affiliate data feeds, but for peace of mind I’ve used it with Commission Junction, Affiliate Future & Affiliate Window.

Installation

1. Unzip the downloaded file upcsv.zip

2. Upload the complete folder /upcsv/ to the following location http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin/

3. Navigate to http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin/upcsv/upload.php

4. Done!

Formatting

Every .csv file must contain a Title, Description, Image, Link and Price, formatted as shown below. I’ve used Neo Office to edit the data feed titles, “Title” obviously being the wordpress post title and so on.

Leave the price without the pound sign this is added in by the tool.

Edit the following code in upload.php to change the affiliate link button,

<a href=\”$row[link]\”><img src=\”http://www.matboo.co.uk/buynow.gif\” alt=\”Buy now\” /></a>”;

Download Below

Errors

You may come across some errors about file memory size these are usualy solved by removing excess fields from your csv file to decrease the upload size, e.g some affiliate data feeds come with other columns which arent needed like data, time - just delete these.

Your host might not support the file upload size of your data feed, to solve this you could ask for an increase or for example if your uploading 1,000 products cut 500 then repaste into another file and upload, usually this isnt a problem.

Example Post

Here is an example of a product from the data feed converted into a wordpress post.

You are free to edit the code and make modifications but you are not allowed to sell the tool and you must credit us with a link if you are going to release updated versions on your own site

Requirements

PHP 4.*

Convert CSV To Wordpress Post

Posted on October 28th, 2008 in Wordpress | 1 Comment »

Heads up! I will be realising a plugin type tool for wordpress which uploads csv product feeds and converts them into wordpress posts. A great way to turn thousands of affiliate data feeds into posts structured with affiliate links, titles, images, descriptions and prices. I’ve tested it with CJ, Affiliate Window & Affiliate future, which all work fine, other sites are charging around £70 for this tool or limited uploads. I will be reasling it for free in a few days, keep posted!!
